From humble beginnings, the company grew to purchase the Uva Halpewatte tea factory. Today UHE Group (Pvt) Ltd provides a range of services via the various companies under its wings.
The companies within the group are :
Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory in Bandarawela which supplies Uva Medium Tea
Haycock Valley Tea Factory in Galle which specializes in Low Grown Tea
Uva Greenland Estates (Pvt) Ltd – which owns and manages 200 acres of tea plantation
UHE Exports (Pvt) Ltd – Which exports factory fresh tea and herbal products from all over Sri Lanka
Abeyrathne Hardware Stores in Bandarawela, retailer/wholesaler and distributor of hardware items

UHE’s success has always been in the hands of its workforce. The management has ensured that the staff receive many benefits in addition to those stipulated by the law; housing, meals, EPF, ETF, gratuity.
We also support the community by paying a higher price than the standard market prices, to farmers who have only a small acreage of tea. This is their only source of income and our assistance helps improve their quality of life.

When the word ‘Tea’ is mentioned somewhere a few things flow in to my mind; the best beverage that is second only to water, one of the main contributing industries to Sri Lanka's GDP and last but not least my life changing experience after I stepped into the process of making this wonderful drink ‘TEA’.
For me it’s not a matter of business, it is the pleasure I feel when they enjoy my tea and say how refreshing and delightful the cup is; it is this self motivation that has carried me thus far in my journey of making tea.
Sri Lanka being a developing country has a large sector dedicated to agriculture of which tea small holders play a significant part. Our company has a base of more than 2000 Greenleaf suppliers of whom a majority is tea small holders. Therefore I am pleased to serve this vital industry sector and raise their standard of living.
Moreover, research findings show the health benefits of tea. It contains no calories, sugar etc. This makes it undoubtedly the second best beverage on earth. For me tea is not just a commodity or a beverage, it’s a way of life…
