About Halpè Tea - Premium Ceylon Tea

Founded in 1971 by Mr. A. P. D. Abeyrathne, Halpé Tea began with the acquisition of the Uva Greenland Tea Estate, formerly owned by a British national. What began as a commitment to the craft of tea has since evolved into a family led enterprise built on quality, integrity, and a deep respect for Ceylon tea.

Today, the business continues under the stewardship of Mr. Abeyrathne, alongside his wife and three sons, who share his enduring passion for producing exceptional Ceylon tea. With decades of experience, Halpé Tea remains committed to preserving the character and quality of its teas while embracing modern standards of production and excellence.

As a family business, Halpé Tea continues to look beyond commercial success, placing equal value on craftsmanship, consistency, and the relationships built with customers around the world. Every cup reflects a heritage shaped by dedication, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for Ceylon tea.

Our specialty:

  • Freshness at Source: Our teas are not stored in warehouses, allowing us to preserve their freshness and authentic character from production to purchase.
  • Vertically Integrated: From our own plantations to manufacturing and direct distribution, we oversee every stage of the process, ensuring consistent quality without intermediaries.
  • Pure Ceylon Tea: Our teas are presented in their original character, without blending with teas sourced from elsewhere.
  • Ceylon Tea Board Lion Logo: Halpé Tea proudly carries the Lion Logo, a mark of quality awarded by the Sri Lanka Tea Board to teas that meet its prescribed standards.
  • Direct Regional Sourcing: We can source teas directly from specific regions or tea factories, including Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula, and Kandy, according to buyer requirements.
